A geofence is an area on the map — a depot, a customer site, a city boundary — that FleetOS watches.
Creating one
Fleet → Geofences → New geofence. Place a circle by centre and radius, or draw a polygon for an irregular site. Give it a name you will recognise in an alert at 3am.
What you get
- Entry and exit alerts when a tracked vehicle crosses the boundary.
- Time inside, which answers how long a vehicle sat at a customer site.
- Arrival and departure times against trips, without the driver having to report them.
Plan requirement
Geofencing is on Professional and above. On Starter the menu item is visible but the feature is locked.
If alerts do not fire
Geofences depend on position reports, so the checks are the same as for an empty live map: the driver must be on duty and the app must have background location permission. A vehicle reporting no positions cannot cross a boundary.
