Add the vehicle
Fleet → Vehicles → Add vehicle. The fields that matter later:
- Registration number — how the vehicle is identified everywhere else in the app.
- Type — truck, van, car, bus, bike or ambulance. This drives which fields and reports appear.
- Current odometer — the starting point for fuel economy and service intervals. Get this right; everything distance-based is measured from it.
- Status — Active, In maintenance or Retired. Only Active vehicles can be assigned to trips.
Documents and expiry alerts
Add registration, fitness, insurance and route-permit documents with their expiry dates. FleetOS warns you before each one lapses, which is the main reason to enter them properly rather than leaving the dates blank.
Assigning a driver
A vehicle can have a default driver, set from the vehicle's detail page. Trips can still be assigned to anyone — the default is a convenience, not a restriction.
Plan limits
The number of vehicles you can add depends on your plan: Starter 5, Professional 50, Enterprise unlimited. The Subscription page shows how many you have used.
